Street Roots is launching a project that will delve into deepening housing insecurity and its impacts on people’s lives. Through investigative and engagement reporting, the project will shed light on the systemic inequity underpinning housing insecurity. Within the existing homeownership system, power and wealth are concentrated among a small portion of the population, a disparity that often translates to displacement, eviction and homelessness.
The Renters’ Rights Project aims to explore this imbalance of power and to report on rapidly changing housing equity in Oregon in real-time. We are inviting Multnomah County renters experiencing housing instability to sign up to receive periodic information, reader callouts and surveys designed to gather information about their experiences. This information will guide our reporting and provide insights about poverty and policy outcomes that will be shared with the broader public through reporting.
