Overview
The Street Roots Program Director will lead organizational programming, which is centered on people experiencing homelessness and poverty who sell our newspaper as a low-barrier means to income. This is a new role designed to lead, develop and connect programming, supporting staff to both manage programs and collaborate across the organization. An integral part of the leadership team with the Executive Director, Development Director and Operations Director, the Program Director holds focus on programs while seeing and valuing the whole organization.
For twenty-five years, Street Roots has published a newspaper sold by vendors as well as Rose City Resource, a compendium of services for people experiencing homelessness and poverty. Street Roots is a growing organization that is moving into a newly renovated building on W. Burnside. The program director will help transition and stabilize programs while realizing burgeoning initiatives – all centered on structuring access to income for people on the streets as well as access to knowledge and voice through education and civic engagement. Street Roots creates conditions for belonging and stability for people experiencing homelessness while also lifting up the importance of mutuality and relationship across housing status.
